As one of the last seed companies to become Roundup Ready®, Seedex stands by its claim that its Roundup Ready® varieties will outperform its competitors first generation of Roundup Ready® varieties and match the return of its conventional varieties.
Regional Sales Manager, Mike Dohman, discussed the reason for staying with conventional varieties for the 2009 season. “We could have very easily gone out and prematurely developed Roundup Ready®. It’s more important to us that our Roundup Ready® varieties perform as good or better than our conventional. By waiting until 2010 to launch our Roundup Ready® varieties, we can be sure that each variety has all the benefits of our conventional varieites, the fastest emergence, good vigor and high yields.”
Seedex will also be making XBEET primer standard on both its conventional and Roundup Ready® varieties. XBEET seed primer removes germination inhibitors and suspends the germination process until the seed gets planted at which the germination starts where it left off. The seed grows more naturally this way. XBEET speeds up emergence which allows for greater stand establishment.
